Dolphins Are Veljko Rogošić’s Best Friend From Capri To Napoli

International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer and Olympian
Veljko Rogošić, the Yugoslavian star swims with
dolphins.
Dolphins seem to relate with the Yugoslavian hero in a positive way.
Before his first professional marathon swimming victory at the 36 km
Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli in July 1971, Rogošić was quite scared of sharks. But his coach
Diki Bojadži calmed him down. Bojadži (whose sister was coincidentally nicknamed the
Ohrid Dolphin) recalls, “
At one point, I saw fins. I froze. I knew if Veljko saw them too, he would reach for the boat and then it was all over. The fear lasted only a few minutes. Fortunately, the fins disappeared. They were dolphins.”
