Don’t Just Be. Be Relentless.

Norma Bastidas, a Mexican endurance athlete and mother, is on track during her swim leg to set the world’s longest triathlon. Her attempt of a 100-mile (162 km) stage swim, in the Caribbean Sea, a bike of 2,740 miles (4,409 km), and a run of 700 miles (1,126 km) is based on her effort to bring awareness and funds to the scourge of human trafficking.

Swimming in the Caribbean Sea in Cancún, Mexico, she then plans to bike through Mexico City, cross the Mexican-American border, head eastward to New Orleans and eventually make her way running to Washington D.C.

Her swim course is an 1600m circuit in Cancún where she has been averaging 7 miles per day while ranging between 3 and 10 miles in her daily dips in the Caribbean.

The conditions vary greatly; some days have been clear, calm waters with mild weather,” she reports. “Other days have been stormy with strong currents, heavy rain, and choppy waters.”

But she is nearing the finish of her swim leg. She will immediately begin her bike ride following her last few swim miles. Her progress is updated in real time.
