Double-Crossing Of The Seal Pup Bay In Iceland
150 people participated in the annual two-way crossing of the Fossvogur Channel between Reykjavík and Kópavogur last week. “The atmosphere was great despite the strong northerly wind,” Árni Jónsson, manager of the thermal beach in Reykjavík, explained to the largest Icelandic newspaper Fréttabladid.
Participants started from the beach in Nauthólsvík in Reykjavík, swam across the Fossvogur Channel to Kópavogur, Iceland’s second largest city that lies immediately south of the capital of Reykjavík and back.
Kópavogur literally means seal pup bay.
