An Early Morning Start In Henley, How Classic!

An Early Morning Start In Henley, How Classic!

The Henley Swim started in 2004 when two ex-oarsmen, Tom Kean and Jeremy Laming, decided to swim what they had rowed hundreds of times before.

The swim uses exactly the same course as rowers with the course sandwiched between wooden booms and the shoreline. This provides swimmers with an easy dead reckoning to follow and a convenient patch for spectators to walk alongside.

Tom and Jeremy announced the Henley Classic will take place at 4:30 am on June 24th in the famed course of the Henley Royal Regatta.

Entries will open precisely at 8:00 pm on April 1st and will accept registrants on a first-come first-serve basis. “We held back some places following our successful lottery for an April free-for all. We wanted to learn from previous years and make sure those who wanted to plan ahead had the chance to book their place in advance. But equally, we enjoy the mad scramble of limited places for those who have yet to decide what summer swims they are going to do. April is the perfect time to launch the final few places for those who are prepared to chance their luck, or who missed the lottery deadline. This way we feel it’s fair for both camps.

Swimmers will also have the chance to swim their Henley Mile event two weeks later, on July 8th. This will be a much more relaxed, family friendly affair, as it will be held throughout the morning hours. For further information, visit www.henleyswim.com.
