The Essence Of Swimming In Music
FINA selected a new anthem to celebrate its mission, called the Magic of Waves. The anthem was composed by Dong Jianjian with the lyrics by Gan Shijia Yvette Ling). It evokes water, the common element of FINA’s five disciplines: pool swimming, open water swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming. But the anthem specifically seems to call to mind the sport of open water swimming. The lyrics are as follows and the song can be heard here:
