Europeans And An American In Israel

The opening stage of the LEN Open Water Swimming Cup 2018 will be held tomorrow in Eilat, Israel.

Athletes come from all over Europe to compete in LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation) open water swimming competitions, but a lone American, Eva Fabian, has been sharing her experience and expertise with her Israeli colleagues and will compete in the 10 km race.

According to her father and coach Jack Fabian, Eva is also an Israeli citizen and is currently training and living full-time in Israel. While she will compete as a local athlete in the LEN competition, but she will represent Israel in future international competitions after her FINA residency requirements are met.

Last year, Hungarians Onon Katalin Somenek and Kristof Rasovszky swept the podium at the 2017 races.

Leg 1 – 10 km in Eilat, Israel on March 25th
Leg 2 – 10 km in Gravelines, France on May 31st
Leg 3 – 10 km in Barcelona, Spain on June 30th
Leg 4 – 10 km in Navia, Spain on July 28th
Leg 5 – 6 km Copenhagen, Denmark on August 25th
Leg 6 – 5 km in Bled, Slovenia on September 9th
