Lewis Pugh told South Africa’s Weekend Post that on his training swim before his unprecedented 1K swim at 5300-meter altitude in a glacial lake on Mt. Everest, “My team had to pull me out of the water several times because I was choking and vomiting and fighting to breathe. It felt like a combination of sprinting the length of a rugby field while having the worst sea sickness imaginable.”
