Can Ana Marcela Cunha win her fourth 25 km race at the FINA World Championships?
Already at these championships in Gwangju, South Korea, she has qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a 5th place finish in the 10 km race and won a gold medal in the 5 km race. Previously, Cunha has won gold medals in the 25 km races at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, and the 2017 FINA World Championships in Lake Balaton, Hungary.
“The race will be strategic and there will be all kinds of lead changes,” predicted Steven Munatones. “Cunha will have a lot of competition by fending champion Axel Reymond of France will be there in the lead, but he is going to be pushed by swimmers like Kristóf Rasovszky, Marc-Antoine Olivier, Matej Kozubek, Kai Graeme Edwards and Alberto Martinez.
The race is most definitely wide open.”
