Fin…But Not Fini

Fin…But Not Fini

Lynn Kubasek, a nominee for the 2013 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year, had a great year in 2013.

It was a great comeback from 2012 when she experienced an uncharacteristic DNF.

Photo shows Kubasek swimming in-between paddler was Allison Bayne and swimmer Carol Hayden, with a fin on the upper left corner. Kubasek remembers, “About 20 minutes into my swim, my entire crew dashed to the back of the boat looking worried and pointing. I kept swimming, maybe a little faster. After a few minutes they flashed an A-OK sign to us.

Afterwards, Scott [Zornig] said that they were huge dolphins acting in an un-dolphinly manner by swimming parallel to the surface. I never saw or heard them. I did see rays, seals and jellyfish though.”
