Following The Past In The Amstel

Erik Van Loon tells about tomorrow’s 3K Amstel Swim that goes from Kaap Kot to Amsterdam’s City Hall in order to increase clean water awareness. “In 1932, the Amstel Swim was called the Tarzan – Johnny Weismuller Trophy in order to promote the Metro Goldwyn Mayer latest film, but history goes back even further than that: the picture on the left was taken on the July 24th, 1926 that shows that swimming in the Amstel was done well in the past.”
