Fran Crippen’s Presence Is Influential At US Aquatic Sports
The family of Fran Crippen, was honored with the Athletes’ Appreciation Award at the 2011 United States Aquatic Sports annual convention. The Athletes’ Appreciation Award recognizes the individual who contributed most significantly to the athletes’ movement.Fran’s long-time coach at the Germantown Academy, Richard Shoulberg, was given USA Swimming’s highest award for making the most outstanding contribution to the sport. Fran’s sister, Maddy, was given the Glen S. Hummer Award for making the greatest contribution to open water swimming.
Ashley Twichell and Alex Meyer received the 2011 female and male open water swimmers of the year awards.
