Nejib Belhedi Swims Along The International Date Line

“He entered the water sans a wetsuit at 16:28 and exited 37 minutes later on Little Diomede Island with a north-running current that assisted in the swim. The water temperature was 2ºC or about 36ºF,” explains Breiter.
The locals can really read the conditions. I told them what we needed. We were prepared and expecting to spend two hours out there. Nejib was heavily greased and I had heated up over a gallon of food, ready to feed every 15 minutes. They put him in where the current sweeps by the island and we went up the coast. One of the older seamen/hunters told me that the current was going at least 6 or 7 mph. We were flying up the coast! This was an amazing experience.”
