Freezin’ For A Reason

Southern California is the land of surf, sea and starlets. But way up at 7000-feet altitude, Big Bear Lake and its environs are the closest skiing resort to Hollywood.

Big Bear and its neighboring Lake Arrowhead are where pods of Southern California swimmers practices their cold water swims. Trying to replicate the ice swims of Europe, China and Russia with a California Polar Bear twist, the Special Olympics Inland Empire organizes a Big Bear Plunge at Swim Beach on March 8th.

Spectators can register for the Too Chicken to Plunge event and merely cheer on from the chicken coop viewing area.

Big Bear Plunge, a Polar Bear charity swim, is hosted by the Special Olympics Inland Empire.
