From Stari Grad To Serpentine, European Open Water Swimming Is Back

The COVID-19 pandemic shut down athletic events from March 2020, but there was no greater slowdown in the open water swimming community than in Europe, the global epicenter of the sport.

But this weekend’s Oceanman Stari Grad in Croatia and the Swim Serpentine in London are representative of the return of the sport.

The shorelines of both open water swimming events were crowded with spectators. Volunteers were plentiful as were smiles at the end of the swims.  Amateurs and professionals, either with wetsuits or in their natural bioprene, filled Stari Grad and the Serpentine with energy and enthusiasm.
