Grace Van Der Byl Triumphantly Tired

Those were the roughest conditions that I have ever seen,” described Grace van der Byl as she came ashore after spending over 100 hours on the Pacific Ocean with her Night Train Swimmer teammates.

We were being bounced around laterally and all over. It feels so surreal now that we are done. I am so happy, but incredibly sore, especially my right shoulder from fighting with the chop. I have only slept 17 hours over the last 4 days, but it is so worth it doing a swim to support the Navy SEAL Foundation.”

For someone who pushed herself hard over 17 different one-hour legs over the 4-day period, Grace was surprisingly talkative and energetic. Smiling broadly and explaining eloquently about her unprecedented adventure to the television and print media, she was typically humble and gracious – and looked like she was ready to get back in.
