Swimming In The Great Salt Lake In Utah

The inaugural Great Salt Lake Open Water in Utah is held in a unique body of water due to its extremely high salinity.*

The Great Salt Lake Open Water is a 1-mile point-to-point swim, perfect for beginners and multi-sport athletes. The longer 8.12-mile swim from Antelope Island to Black Rock Beach is a bit more of a challenge.

* The salinity of the lake depends on the lake’s water level and can range from 5 to 27% (50-270 parts per thousand). For comparison, the average salinity of the world ocean is 3.5% (35 parts per thousand) and 33.7% in the Dead Sea.
