Phil White announced that “every dog has her day.”
A 3-year-old brown labrador named Guri Bosch has registered and qualified for the first canine crossing attempt of Lake Willoughby on August 17th. “Cleared by her vet, she completed her 2.5 mile qualifying swim.
She swam from The Clubhouse out to Cove Island and back. Her swimming partner Bethany Bosch who just returned from Ned Denison’s Distance Swim Camp is also registered for the 5-mile Lake Willoughby Swim. They have been swimming side-by-side since Guri was a puppy.
Bethany is a 2-time 10-mile Kingdom Swimmer and has signed on as a Swimmer Scout to join the expeditionary force In Search of Memphre on September 7th.”
It is said that Guri does not stop for feedings. She simply laps up the fresh water in the lake as she paddles along.
The Lake Willoughby Swim is one day of the Northeast Kingdom Open Water Swimming Association series called Swim the Kingdom where swimmers have the opportunity to swim in 7 lakes over 9 days from August 10th through August 18th.
