Half A Million Reasons To Make Waves To Fight Cancer

Half A Million Reasons To Make Waves To Fight Cancer

Kerry Anderson and Jacque’ Lang, Co-Event Directors of the Swim Across America Greenwich – Stamford Open Water Swim helped motivate a relatively small number of people and teams to raise over US$505,000 in their charity swim for Swim Across America.

Thank you to everyone for helping make this year’s Swim Across America – Greenwich – Stamford event the best one yet on behalf of the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy.

It was another perfect and very calm day in Long Island Sound. 186 swimmers took the plunge and swam either a half mile, 1.5 miles, 3 miles, or 5 miles into the refreshing Sound. Over 85 volunteers along with kayakers and boaters supported their efforts to “Make Waves to Fight Cancer.” This year we had 17 teams participate. Our top team this year – Team College – raised over US$142,000! Other STRONG showings were made by Peter’s Defeaters with US$36,000 and Kicking Cancer for Karen, Chris and Friends with over US$27,000, Team CureAtors with US$23,000 and Team Interns with over US$21,000! Amazing..
