How Cold Can You Go?

How Cold Can You Go?

With the summer season over in the Northern Hemisphere and the water still cool in the Southern Hemisphere, open water swimmers are facing cool waters in many places around the world.

The Daily News of Open Water Swimming is running a poll on how the global swimming community defines ‘cold’.

Individuals can vote on how they individually define ‘cold’ (for themselves) when they are in the water without a wetsuit. The choices are under 5ºC (41ºF), under 10ºC (50ºF), under 12.5°F (54.5°F), under 15°F (59°C), under 17.5°F (63.5°F), under 20°F (68°C) or under 22.5°F (72.5°C).
