In and Out At The King And Queen Of The Sea

At yesterday’s grid race at Rio de Janeiro’s King and Queen of the Sea (Rei e Rainha do Mar*), elite athletes had to run in and out of Copacabana Beach.
We followed two-time Olympian Poliana Okimoto of Brazil, world championship swimmer Bettina Lorscheitter, FINA World Cup champion Christine Jennings, FINA Grand Prix champion Alice Franco, FINA world junior champion Michele Weber, FINA world 25 km champion and 2-time Olympian Angela Maurer, 2005 FINA world 10 km champion Chip Peterson, World University Games (Universiade) 10 km champion Matteo Furlan, Olympian and world championship medalist Chad Ho, FINA team pursuit champion and FINA World Cup champion Christian Reichert, 2-time Olympian and FINA World Cup champion Allan do Carmo, and FINA world championship medalist Samuel de Bona [see below] as they raced and dolphined in and out of the water.
* The event included over 3,700 participants in a 1 km Sprint swim, 2 km Classic swim, 4 km Challenge swim, 1 km swim + 2.5 km run Beach Biathlon, and a 5 km Beach Run.
