International Ice Swimming Association 4th World Championship Is On, As Scheduled

In the midst of the global ongoing worry about COVID-19 and its variants, various governments are constantly reviewing the situation and making policy and visitation changes as they see fit. Airlines and the travel industry are similarly adapting and adjusting personnel and schedules as necessary.

But like the show business, Ram Barkai and the International Ice Swimming Association is moving forward as planned with its IISA 4th World Championship scheduled for February 3rd – 6th 2022 in Glogow, Poland.

Barkai announced, “The IISA 4th World Championship has been received with huge subscription and excitement, yet, we are aware that the majority of participation will be from Europe, UK and Ireland. Travel is still a real challenge to those living far from Europe. Those who are going to miss it due to travel restrictions, we will see you in IISA 5th World Championship in 2023.”

The IISA and host Polish organizers have adjusted the scheduled program according to the number of swimmers. The most popular races, currently, are the 50m freestyle (20 heats), 100m freestyle (16 heats), 250m freestyle (14 heats), 50m breaststroke (12 heats), Ice Kilometer (12 heats including the 2 final heats), 500m freestyle (11 heats), 100m breaststroke (10 heats), 50m butterfly (10 heats), 100m individual medley (9 heats), 50m backstroke (7 heats), 4x50m freestyle relay (5 heats), and 4x250m freestyle relay (2 heats).

Entries will close on January 8th 2022.

Barkai understands worries about travel and participation in light of the pandemic, “We are aware that COVID is dealt with differently by every country. Please check what is required of you to enter Poland in time to participate in the World Championship.”
