60 Minutes Sports is an American TV program that airs monthly on Showtime and is produced by the same team that delivers 60 Minutes, one of America’s most well-known, well-respected, and longest running weekly television programs.

60 Minutes Sports will run a segment of open water swimming in October. The segment will showcase the adventurers and ambiance of the Cork Distance Week, founded by Ned Denison.

During the 2014 Cork Distance Week, the 60 Minutes Sports television crew filmed, interviewed and marvelled at the community of hardened marathon swimmers who hoarded around Denison and his fiendishly-minded coaching and safety volunteers. The CBS crew from New York City aimed cameras at the swimmers above, below and at the surface of the turbulent, cold seas lining the southern Irish coast.

The CBS producers wish to augment their segment with outstanding footage from marathon swimmers challenging the different seas around the world. The more dramatic the footage, the higher the seas, the more difficult the conditions the better.

Links to this footage can be sent directly to CBS News to the attention of both Alan Goldberg and James Watson at James Watson.

Remember…the more dramatic the footage, the higher the seas, the more difficult the conditions, the better. CBS is also interested in images of swimmers exhausted, emotional, sick, being pulled from the water in addition to triumphant moments. Anything that highlights the risks and drama of these long distance swims is requested.

We know the global open water swimming community can deliver on these requests.
