Joe Locke Swims High Up In Lake Tahoe

Joe Locke quietly pulled off on an 11 hour 40 minute crossing of Lake Tahoe in the south to north direction yesterday.

Most people tackle Lake Tahoe in the opposite direction, but the overall record remains with Dave Kenyon who swam in the north-to-south direction in 9 hours 20 minutes in 1987, although the standard distance is now set at 21.24 miles between Hyatt Beach and Camp Richardson.

Locke was the 24th person to complete a non-wetsuit crossing of Lake Tahoe.
