John Kinsella To Speak At The Global Open Water Conference

John Kinsella, an Olympic gold and silver medalist and the dominant professional marathon swimmer in the 1970s, will speak at the 2011 Global Open Water Swimming Conference in New York City on June 17th – 19th.

John took to the open water like he swam in the pool – aggressively and out in front. Whether it was a pro marathon swim in Lake Ontario (where he still holds the world record or a race in the English Channel, John was always pushing the pace.

I’m able to take the brutality of the swim and push it on and on,” explained John.

I think the real key to being successful in marathon swimming is mental discipline, the ability to be convinced you’re going to finish when you go in. Getting in the boat is not an option.

It will be a great pleasure to hear John speak and talk with him first hand about the pro marathon swimming era of the 1970s.
