In cooperation with the International Ocean Film Festival, National Geographic is offering a one-night private virtual screening of the documentary film Becoming Cousteau on December 5th, followed by a conversation with director Liz Garbus and Academy Award-winner James Cameron.
Jacques-Yves Cousteau, a 1967 honoree of the International Swimming Hall of Fame as an Honor Contributor, was one of the 20th century’s great explorers and marine environmentalist, an inventor, and a 3-time Academy Award winning filmmaker who authored over 50 books and invented the Aqua-Lung in 1943. His films, TV programs, books and research informed the world about the warming oceans decades before the climate crisis started making headlines and headway most recently.
RSVP here to receive the link to watch the film and post-screening discussion at 6:00 pm EST (New York time) or 6:00 pm PST (California) this Sunday, December 5th.
Cousteau once said, “Obviously, man has to enter the sea. There is no choice in the matter.”
