Jorge Delgado On Getting Open Water Into The Olympics

FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee Vice Chairman Jorge Delgado, a 2-time Olympic finalist from Ecuador, explains how the sport of marathon swimming got into the Summer Olympics at a speech in the United Nations during the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame induction ceremonies organized and hosted by the World Open Water Swimming Association.

During the induction ceremonies, Richard “Dick” Campion (Australia), Catalina Channel Swimming Federation (USA), Anne Cleveland (USA), Fran Crippen (USA), Drury Gallagher (USA), William “Bill” Goll (USA), Harry Huffaker (USA), Yuko Matsuzaki (Japan), and Penny Palfrey (Australia) were honored and formally inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
