“My passion lies within my sport, nutrition, and community. As a professional athlete of open water marathon swimming, I travel across the US and the world building connections on a consistent basis. Nutrition is also key factor in being able to compete at a professional level.
Swimming 20 hours per week, dryland/lifting 4 hours per week, and cardio (bike/run) can take a toll on your body if you do not recover and eat properly.
I recently took a move to Mission Viejo, California for training purposes and have been getting involved in teaching swim clinics across the US with many Olympians and National team members as part of promoting USA Swimming. I’m a huge advocate of safety in open water swimming as well, especially in lieu of a good friend and an amazing athlete, Fran Crippen, who passed out in the water and drowned in a race in the UAE because of a lack of safety personnel. I’m a monthly writer for a triathlete magazine, LAVA magazine and volunteered as a youth group leader/mentor at my church in Boulder for a year. I enjoy getting involved and volunteering at my church.“
