Just Keep Swimming Lives Up To Name

Just Keep Swimming, a Catalina Channel relay with Kate Martin, P.K. Gauchan, Robyn Beresh, Alicia Bartley (Team Captain), Sherry Winston, and Steve Klein, lived up to its name with a 13 hours 8 minute crossing.

We had really rough waters the first 6 hours of the swim,” explained Winston. “The Catalina Channel Swimming Federation Observers almost cancelled the swim around 5:30 am because of the conditions.

Apparently there were opposing currents smashing into each other creating swells between 3 to 5 feet in some instances. But as luck would have it, the waters began to abate and we had an easier time of it as the morning went on
.”

Despite everyone experiencing sea sickness before and during the swim, they just kept swimming. “We set out on a goal of crossing the channel and we all dug deep and made the mission possible. I personally felt more empowered having worked through such an experience and know that I could do it again if I had to. I would do it again in a heartbeat,” expressed Winston with a gleam in her eye.
