Katie Rowe, A Swimmer In Hollywood
Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California.Katie Rowe is a former world-class swimmer, water woman extraordinaire and Hollywood stuntwoman.
Subsequent to her graduation from UCLA after a long stretch of swimming success, the native of Long Beach (California) parlayed her natural athletic talents to films and movies, appearing in over 50 movies as an actress or action stunt woman, stunt driver or stunt coordinator.
Some of her work was seen in major motion pictures such as Spider-Man 2, The Day After Tomorrow, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and Bad Santa, or such popular television series such as CSI: Miami, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Poseidon, Star Trek: Enterprise, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and JAG.
Utilizing the same work ethic that drove her to twice-a-day workouts and 20,000 meters of swimming a day at her peak, the 190.5 cm (6′-3″) statuesque blonde with a quick smile and calm demeanor is a study of focus and preparation for each of her roles.
This year alone she has done The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes, The Dictator, Scandal, Dark Tide, CSI: Miami, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
An interview of the swimming actress and stunt woman will be featured in the Daily News of Open Water Swimming next month.
