Kelp Is On The Way with Force Blue
Jim Ritterhoff, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Force Blue Team together with Force Blue military veterans and marine scientists from The Bay Foundation successfully completed a nearly 100m kelp forest reclamation effort in the waters of the Catalina Channel off the city of San Pedro, California during NFL Green Week and the run-up to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.
Ritterhoff explains, “The project, dubbed Kelp Is On The Way!, marked FORCE BLUE’s third consecutive Super Bowl appearance and the team’s first West Coast deployment. Concurrent with the Kelp Is On The Way project, FORCE BLUE and long-time partner Pepsi Stronger Together, teamed up with the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, NFL Green, The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee and Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu on a day-long beach clean-up that featured over 100 environmental charter school student volunteers.”
