Lake Lures Masters Champions To North Carolina

21-year-old Payne Montgomery of Stanford won the 2012 U.S. Masters Swimming 1 Mile National Championship in Lake Lure, North Carolina. He was followed by two 40-somethings Chris LaBianco and Chris Stevenson.

Marianne Countryman topped the women’s field by a comfortable margin. But Dr. Edgar Ole Larson, the former Appalachian State University swimming coach, who may have been the most impressive winning the 90-94 age-group.
