Leme to Pontal Swimming Association (LPSA) was founded on June 08, 2016, duly registered with the RCPJ, with its headquarters in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The motivation to found the LPSA came from the increase in swimmers who became interested in carrying out the swimming crossing from Leme beach to Pontal beach. There are about 36 km of great natural beauty, where the swimmer can admire, from a privileged angle, some wonders of the city of Rio de Janeiro, such as Morro do Pão de Açúcar, Forte do Leme, Praia do Leme and Copacabana, Forte de Copacabana , Cristo Redentor, Cagarras Archipelago, Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon Beaches, Pedra da Gávea, São Conrado Beach, Costão do Niemeyer, Quebra Mar da Barra, Barra da Tijuca Beaches, Reserva e Recreio and Pedra do Pontal.

The LPSA aims to encourage the practice of swimming in open water, as well as provide interested athletes with the possibility of challenging themselves on the courses established by the LPSA with a structure, safety and standards compatible with those established by the main international entities that regulate the practice of swimming. swimming in open waters such as the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) and the International Federation (Marathon Swimmers Federation (MSF), in line with the service standards established by renowned world associations, such as those of the English Channel, Channel Swimming Association (CSA) and Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation (CS&PF), Canal de Catalina, Catalina Channel Swimming Federation (CCSF) and Strait of Gibraltar, Asociación para el Cruce a Nado del Estrecho de Gibraltar ( ACNEG).

In this way, LPSA follows strict bureaucratic and logistical procedures in order to organize, upon payment of the corresponding expenses, human and material resources. Upon completion of the challenge, once the swimmer has followed all the rules established in this regulation, the LPSA will organize the documentation that will attest to the completion of the crossing and will include the participant’s name in the official list of those who have completed the challenge in its different modalities. : solo or relay, with or without neoprene.

Certification and recognition of swimming is granted only to the swimmer registered with the LPSA, whose attempt has been supported by escort boats and by pilots registered by the association, duly accompanied by official observers who, through reports, ratify that the regulation has been complied with, standardizing it. procedures under equal conditions for all athletes who perform the LPSA Crossings.

LPSA offers 08 (eight) route options so that swimmers can challenge themselves on the coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro:

Northern Circuit (crossings on the coast of the city of Niterói)

– 16K Travessia de Icaraí à Itaipu; e

– 21K Travessia de Icaraí à Itaipuaçu.

Southern Circuit (crossing on the coast of the city of Rio de Janeiro)

– 14K Travessia do Pontal à Barra de Guaratiba;

– 16K Travessia do Leme à Barra da Tijuca;

– 36K Travessia do Leme ao Pontal; e

– 50K Travessia da Praia Vermelha à Barra de Guaratiba.
