Lynn Blouin Talks About lac Memphrémagog On WOWSA Live

International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Administrator Lynn Blouin covered and organized one of the major professional marathon swims in the world for decades: the 42 km cross-border Traversée Internationale du lac Memphrémagog, an International Marathon Swimming Association-sanctioned races.

From her lifelong home in Magog overlooking lac Memphrémagog, she was a fixture in the 42 km Traversée Internationale du lac Memphrémagog – where 8 km of the race was in the United States and the rest was located in Canada between 1979 and 2004.

Ned Denison of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame interviewed Blouin on today’s WOWSA Live program. She talked about:

* starting off her early marathon swimming career as a journalist
* trying to figure out how to organize the lac Memphremgog crossing of Mohammed Hassan in 2003
* explaining the different local cultures of Magog and Roberval where Traversée Internationale du lac St-Jean is held
* describing why the top swimmers performed so well in the Traversée across lac Memphrémagog
* cheering for Shelley Taylor-Smith in the 1991 Traversée after Diego Degano declared he would retire if a woman ever beat him

* sitting around and strategizing and planning the global circuit with Claudio Plit, the first winner of the 1979 Traversée and who she coached in the 1998 Traversée
