Marathon Swims in Spain

Besides the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco, there are two other marathon swims in Spain: La Batalla De Rande A Nado and the Ultramarató de l’Ebre 30830 Swim Marathon.

La Batalla De Rande A Nado is a 27K (16.7 mile) wetsuit swim on July 8th between the Cies Islands, at the mouth of the Ria de Vigo, and the small island of San Simon in Galicia in the northwest of Spain.

The Ultramarató de l’Ebre 30830 Swim Marathon is a 30.83K (19.15-mile) marathon swim in the River Ebre on the Iberian Peninsula between the start in Tivenys and the finish in Amposta. Amposta is the capital of Montsià in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. The event will be held on 8 July 2012.

These swims are among the longest marathon swims in the world (see here).
