Mateusz Sawrymowicz Looking Up

Polish Olympian Mateusz Sawrymowicz won the competitive RCP Tiburon Mile yesterday in a hard-fought victory over Tunisia’s Ous Mellouli and Kane Radford of New Zealand.

He talks about beating his Trojan Swim Club teammate Mellouli:

I came out to Los Angeles because of Ous. He is great. We workout in a unique way. It is really, really good. And the sun is always shining. The atmosphere is so great [at the Trojan Swim Club]. We get lots of Vitamin D training in our outdoor pool. It makes us happy.”

And the 26-year-old couldn’t stop smiling after his 1-mile victory that earned him US$10,000.

I am older than the typical Polish swimmer, so it is hard. But when I came out here to California, there were lots of guys like Ous who were older than me. I was able to learn from them and grow as an athlete.”
