Michelle Macy’s 6-Year Road To The Oceans Seven

Michelle Macy became the third person in history to achieve the Oceans Seven today. Her 6-year journey started in 2007 with a 10 hour 2 minute crossing of the English Channel followed by a 10 hour 12 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel in 2008 and another English Channel crossing in 2009 in 11 hours 37 minutes. In 2010, she tackled the Cook Strait in 8 hours 2 minutes and crossed the Strait of Gibraltar in 3 hours 39 minutes in 2011 when she also attempted the Molokai Channel twice. She completed the Molokai Channel on her second try in 14 hours 12 minutes and then completed the Tsugaru Channel on her second attempt in 2012 in 8 hours 55 minutes. She polished off the North Channel on her second try with arguably her greatest swim to date: 9 hour 34 minute world record swim earlier today.

After 10 separate channel swims touching 10 different countries, Michelle Macy has earned her way into the annals of open water swimming history.
