Molokai Channel Too Rough On This Day

Molokai Channel Too Rough On This Day

James Pittar, the incredible blind swimmer from Australia, hit a temporary roadblock on his way to be the first person to achieve the Oceans Seven.

5 hours and 10 minutes after trying starting from Kaluakoi on Molokai Island in an effort to complete the Molokai Channel, James had to abort his effort yesterday morning.

High waves and strong wind was just too much for him on his attempt to notch Swim #5 of the Ocean’s Seven.

To date, James has completed a crossing of the English Channel, the Catalina Channel in Southern California, the Cook Strait and the Strait of Gibraltar as part of the Ocean’s Seven – as well as swim around Manhattan Island and completing numerous other marathon swims.

A documentary of James’ swim in New York City is here (Swimming with Skyscrapers).
