Multiplying Like Rabbits And Jellyfish

“With more global exposure of the sport and fast, photogenic athletes racing an iconic setting, more events will get started and more individuals will challenge themselves to venture beyond the shorelines.
When more individuals participate in open water competitions, there will be an increase in the traditional (television, magazine, newspaper), new media (social networks, blogs, tweets) and informational (GPS, text, IM) exposure of the sport.
The cycle will feed upon itself, enabling the sport to grow at unprecedented levels.”
Like the jellyfish that are encroaching on the shorelines of the world.
“The sport offers amateur swims, professional races, solo challenges, charity events, relays and extreme swims of all sorts in oceans, lakes, seas, rivers, bays, estuaries, channels, canals and fjords. Everywhere marine life exists, humans are diving in and challenging themselves.
That is the beauty of the sport. The world is so unexplored when it comes to humans swimming in open bodies of water. People can challenge themselves, plan their own adventure and set all kinds of records (personal or world) by swimming unprecedented distances in lakes, river, channels and oceans around the world – or even in their local area. This excitement – to do a swim that has never been done before in the history of mankind – even in your own city or state is pretty thrilling for the average swimmer in the 21st century.
We want to recognize their achievements and encourage them to train and complete their swim safely. Which is where Ocean Care Solutions comes into play. While sharks and cold water are usually the first obstacles that come to mind when swimming in the ocean, it is the unseen stinging creatures like jellyfish and Portuguese Man o War that often present disguised barriers to success.”
With summer’s arrival in the Northern Hemisphere, jellyfish are washing up on beaches around the world. With warmer weather and more plankton in the ocean for jellyfish to eat, there is always an increase of the venomous creatures during summer months.
In whole or in part, the jellyfish can leave their mark.
“It’s the smaller chopped up pieces that have been hit by a boat that are dangerous because they continue to sting,” said San Diego veteran lifeguard Rick Strobel.
These lifeguards and their counterparts around the world know the value of professionally treating injuries and quickly responding to emergencies. Armed with products like Ocean Care Solutions, their jobs are made easier.
Because like open water swimmers, jellyfish are multiplying faster than ever. When two exploding populations converge in the same venue, encounters are bound to happen.
