Reported by Outdoor Swimmer Magazine, Ned Denison and John Ryan sprinted in a tie in the 10th annual Eastern Bay Invitational International Ice Mile Swim, the world’s longest running ice mile swim that began in 2013.
On January 29th, Denison and Ryan finished in 25 minutes 22 seconds in the Clontarf Outdoor Pool in Dublin, Ireland. Unfortunately, the water did not meet the ice swimming threshold of being below 5°C. The water was 7°C.
The fastest female swimmer was Jackie O’Connor who finished in 26 minutes 23 seconds. Event organizer and host Fergal Somerville in 27 minutes 5 seconds.
