She has swum throughout the world, but never deep inside the Amazon region.

But SBR Sports swimmer Lexie Kelly from Newport Beach, California is having the time of her life in the 30 km Rio Negro Challenge Amazonia, swimming with fresh water dolphins and meeting the people of the Rio Negro region.

The festivities started earlier this week and is culminating in today’s 30 km Rio Negro Challenge Amazonia in the largest left tributary of the Amazon River. Dolphins, locals and blackwater are just some of the new experiences for the open water veteran who swim from Iranduba to Manaus, the most populous and capital city of the state of Amazonas in northern Brazil today with dozens of other marathon pros.
