Night Swimming In Valparaiso, Chile

Well-known Chilean open water swimmer Victor “Tiburon” Contreras, the first man to swim across the Strait of Magellan (4.8 km in 1 hour 28 minutes), hosted the annual Travesía Nocturna en Valparaiso, a night swim that starts at 9 pm from Muelle Prat to Puerto Deportivo Valparaíso (Muelle Barón). Each swimmer wears a Sea-lum (light that attaches to the swim cap for safety).

This year, over 200 swimmers enjoyed the view of the city stretched out in front of them, with its famous Cerro Alegre Hill and Cerro Baron as they navigate between ships and boats.
