Offshore, Onshore Places To Visit

With a number of beaches and several offshore islands (Arkoi, Marathos and several uninhabited islets), it is an open water swimmer’s paradise just to the west of Turkey in the Aegean Sea.
A small, largely barren island with volcanic soil and sheer cliffs, Patmos was used by a place of exile for convicts by the Romans.

Southern California native, born 1962, is the creator of the WOWSA Awards, Oceans Seven, Openwaterpedia, Citrus Corps, World Open Water Swimming Association, Daily News of Open Water Swimming, Global Open Water Swimming Conference. Served on the FINA Technical Open Water Swimming Committee and as Technical Delegate with the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and 9-time USA Swimming coaching staff.
