Olympics Come And Go, but Islands Are Forever

Anna Wardley, given the opportunity to be a part of the 2012 London Olympics and cover the sailing and windsurfing events for the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, adjusted her Five Island Swim Challenge.

I was offered by London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games a position working on the London 2012 Games.

It’s been a really tough decision as the contract spans the Olympic and Paralympic Games so it clashes with the two final swims [of the Five Islands campaign] that I had planned for the year. I decided to accept the post as it feels like the opportunity of a lifetime and the islands will still be there next year
.”

She plans to complete the first three circumnavigations around Dragonera, Portsea and Jersey as planned this year and postpone the Tiree swim to August 2012 and the Isle of Wight swim until September 2013. “It looks like I’ve got another year of relentless training ahead of me, but as you can imagine I’m really excited to be working at the Olympic Games.”
