Outsider Magazine, Ireland’s leading adventure magazine, is conducting its Outsider Outdoor/Adventure Photo of the Year campaign with the usual bikers, climbers, skiers and adventurers captured in action.
This year, there is a swimmer in their midst. Nuala Moore captured Vasilly Mosin racing butterfly at night in 0ºC (32ºF) water with the air temperatures at -6ºC (21ºF) at the Tyumen Open Cup in Siberia [see above].
Swimmers can participate in the public online vote here. The winner will be presented at The Outsider Awards 2015 which are supported by Just Eat, Victorinox and Great Outdoors on February 3rd 2016. Voting will close on February 1st.
“There are stunning photos in the mix,” says Moore. “I took this photo of Vasilly with my Olympus Tough, but it represents such power and strength of mind and body in the face of the challenges. I love the power as he launches. This is what I love about The Ice.
The Ice does take the power from us by its nature, but we still strive for personal challenge in the cold. We love it.”
