Por Ellas Mexico Takes Home Bronze in WOWSA Event of the Year Awards

Por Ellas Mexico, an open water swimming event held in La Paz, Baja California in Mexico, has been recognized as the bronze recipient in Event of the Year at the WOWSA Awards!

Por Ellas Mexico was created to raise funds and awareness for breast and cervical-uterine cancer, and has been running for 13 years. The event offers four different races for swimmers to participate in, including the 3 km, 5 km, 35 km relay, and 35 km solo races.

The WOWSA Awards, an annual recognition of excellence in open water swimming, celebrates individuals and offerings that embody the spirit of open water swimming and have made a positive impact on the community. Over 143 nominations were evaluated by the 97 members of the WOWSA Awards Voting Academy, and Por Ellas was one of the 10 finalists chosen from 23 different countries for the Event of the Year category.

More than 11,400 public votes were cast, with a 75% weighting from the WOWSA Academy and 25% from the general public, to determine the winners in each category. Por Ellas was selected for its ability to bring awareness to important causes while also celebrating the spirit of open water swimming.

Over 4,800 swimmers have taken part in Por Ellas Mexico over the years, making it a staple in the open water swimming community.
