Possible Schedule For 2011 World Championships

The 14th FINA World Championships will be held in Shanghai between July 16th – 31st and will showcase the world’s best athletes in pool swimming, water polo, diving, synchronized swimming and open water swimming. The proposed open water swimming schedule is not yet final, but the following schedule is under decision.

For reference purposes, here is the possible schedule understanding that the open water events traditionally start on the first day of competition (i.e., July 16th):

Day 0: Pre-race technical meetings for the men’s and women’s 10K, men’s and women’s 5K, the 5K Team Event and the men’s and women’s 25K
Day 1: 10:00 am – women’s 10K (Olympic 10K Marathon Swim qualifier)
Day 1: 2:00 pm – men’s 10K (Olympic 10K Marathon Swim qualifier)
Day 2: 5K Team Event
Day 3: Rest Day
Day 4: 10:00 am – women’s 5K
Day 4: 3:00 pm – men’s 5K
Day 5: 10:00 am – men’s 25K
Day 5: 10:15 am – women’s 25K
