Professor Michael Johmann became a member of the Half Century Club and Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with his rough water 11 hour 23 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel on June 21st.

His Catalina Channel Swimming Federation observer Dan Simonelli reported, “Michael endured rough conditions throughout the crossing, with cross swells competing with 6-16 mph winds. Mike was steady and strong and finished well on rocky Terranea.”

The professor completed his Triple Crown within two years. His English Channel crossing came at the age of 52 years in 13 hours 50 minutes in 2014 and his Manhattan Island Marathon Swim came at the age of 53 in 2015 in 7 hours 45 minutes.
