Quartet of Women Complete Fastest Female Relay Across False Bay

Shoneé Cornelissen of Port Elizabeth balances her work as a biokineticist and activities as chairperson of South Africa’s Cape Long Distance Swimming Association with her love of the ocean.

She had previously completed a solo 11 km crossing between Fishhoek and Miller’s Point across the Great White Shark aquarium known as False Bay and a more recent double Robben Island crossing of 14.8km.

On January 11th, she participated in the fastest women’s relay across False Bay with Paula ArmstrongBritt Hyland, and Anneke Boshoff. The quartet completed the 33.13 km crossing between Rooi Els and Miller’s Point in 7 hours 38 minutes 9 seconds, escorted by pilots Michelle Petring and Craig Willars along with observers Blake Kelly and Michelle Petring.
