Ram Barkai At The Global Open Water Swimming Conference

Ram Barkai At The Global Open Water Swimming Conference

Ram Barkai of Cape Town, South Africa is one of the world’s foremost adventure swimmers.

He will share his training secrets and preparation tips for extreme swims and will present an engaging and enlightening keynote speech at the 2010 Global Open Water Swimming Symposium and Conference at the Long Beach Marriott in California on June 5th.

The Conference is shaping up to bring in an engaging group of international speakers who wish to share their stories of triumph and tribulations, of inspiration and impediments, techniques and training.

Speakers will discuss everything from the science of open water swimming to its magic from personal experience.

Ram swims in rarified circles – only the pioneering swimmers like Lynne Cox, Lewis Pugh and Ram have swum credible and authenticated swims at the bottom of the world – Antarctica.

Ram has proven himself in unbelievably mind-boggling swims in the most harsh, inhospitable conditions imaginable. Besides his 2008 swim in the 1°C (34°F) frigid waters of Antarctica, Ram regularly swims in the Great White Shark-infested waters around South Africa (sometimes at night), in the cold, rugged wilderness along Alaskan islands and in icy lakes in Switzerland…in the dead of winter.

In addition to heading up Cadiz Holdings, a solid financial services business in Cape Town, South Africa, he supports one of the most popular and challenging open water swims in the world, the 7.1K Cadiz Freedom Swim from the famous Robben Island to Cape Town.

Ram continues to seek adventure and digs deep within himself to reach the outer limits of his athletic and mental potential. He will explain his detailed preparations and the dangerously risky obstacles he faces while finely balancing work, family and his generous charitable activities to the sport.

Attendees of the 2010 Global Open Water Swimming Symposium and Conference can take advantage of the special package deal offered by the host Long Beach Marriott in Southern California.
