Reaching Out In The Open Water To Under-served Communities

On the back of the successful 1.5K open water swim at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Special Olympics athletes worldwide are jumping into lakes, bays, oceans and rivers as the allure of the open water expands to previously under-served open water swimming communities.

Bruckner Chase explains, “We added Special Olympics athletes to our ocean workouts here in South Jersey this morning. A total of 50 swimmers welcomed them as we taught basic skills for sighting and dealing with waves…these guys rock! These experiences can be so impactful experiences on whole communities.”
